Building a zip line

Looking to build a zip line? Then we have everything you need! We can deliver zip lines that span from the 10 meter-long and 3% fall that are perfect for playgrounds, to the 1500-meter-long wires with dual descents up to 30% and soaring speeds at 180 km/h. They are all built in accordance with national and international regulations and we offer zip lines for parks of all sizes. Our zip lines can be built using existing trees and mountains or by installing poles into the terrain.

Initial Inspection

During our initial inspection we’ll make a rough design and look at the potential and opportunities of your area. You’ll receive an initial design draft, a budget estimate and a detailed description of your order. This provides you with a clear and concise view of what establishing a park will mean both financially and practically. These documents can be of great help when applying for funding and can help you in attracting investors.

Constructing the Zip Line

The zip line construction period is dependent on a variety of factors such as the terrain, environment and other concerns. Normally, constructing the zip line takes from 1 to 2 weeks. We will also test the zip line(s) and train the staff responsible for the line. The zip line needs government approval before it can open to the general public. As such, you should expect to wait 2 (two) months from your decision to build the zip line and to its first opening day. All H&L zip lines are built in accordance to national and international regulations.

Building an Adventure Park

Building an adventure park takes more than just ordering a couple of elements and putting together a trail for the guests to follow. You have to ensure that all the elements and trails are adapted to the terrain and environment of your park. Keeping a natural flow to the trails, your costs low and your park safe is crucial in order to keep your customers satisfied – and keep coming back! But the work is far from over when your park is built. Then, you have to maintain the trails and elements, train your staff and getting the right permits. All parks by H&L are designed and built in accordance with international and national regulations. (NS-EN 15567-1:2015) H&L will help you every step of the way – from the initial idea phase to when you’re up and running.

Design

H&L will provide you with a design draft of your adventure park. The draft includes an overview of trails elements/installations as well as the organization of your park. One of the most important parts to building an adventure park is its design and layout. A good design ensures that your guests get the best possible visit to a safe and secure park, as well as helps you make the most out of the resources available in your park.

Construction

All parks built by H&L are custom made and tailored to each specific location. Construction time depends on several factors such as the size, type of foliage, terrain and other concerns. Normally, you should expect construction to take 6-10 weeks to complete. H&L will provide a team of 6-10 people working continuously to complete the park.

In addition to construction, you have to test the park, train your Operating Manager and staff as well as have your park approved by the authorities. From the decision to build the park is done and until it can open to the public you should expect a 6 month wait.

Layout

How you organize your adventure park, plan your trails, training areas and common areas play a very important role in the success of your park. Through feedback from our guests and partners we’ve made a lot of useful experiences throughout the years on what works and not, which we will happily share with you.

Establishing Routines and Training Staff

National government regulations state that the Operating Manager must have the necessary qualifications in order to manage the adventure park. As such, we’ve developed our own system for internal control and operations of zip lines and adventure-based services. This will provide you with the necessary operating routines, complete with checklists and instructions for the different functions and we will provide the training necessary if needed. Our system can also be easily implemented into other activities that are part of your daily operations.

Your staff can visit our park and be a part of the operation firsthand, providing them with useful experience, before their own park opens. Alternatively, our instructors can assist you on-site during the initial opening phase of your park. Our focus lies in quality and safety and we will do our best so that both staff and guests alike will have the best experience possible.

Our Adventure Installations

We can provide a variety of installations and elements for your park – no matter the purpose or target audience. Below you’ll find a selection of installations for your park but we can also create something unique and exciting tailored for your needs and your park. Just get in touch!

Climbing Towers

We can build a wide range of climbing towers, which can function as a free-standing
landmark or a tower integrated in your park trails. Our latest innovation is a tower in
solid wood – a true landmark! Climbing towers can be built in different sizes and can
be both inside and outside. These towers are a great addition to your park’s “skyline”
and very cost-efficient installations.

Netting Parks

Netting is an excellent choice if you want your guests to roam free and explore the park in a safe environment. The netting can be installed in trees or poles high above ground, and lets your guests enjoy the park without being locked in to a safety line. This makes a netting park quite different from the climbing trails, where you follow a set trail from start to finish. Read more about the Notteparken netting park we built at H&L Vestfold.

Free-Fall Installations

Through the years we’ve built a range of free-fall installations, either as separate elements, in trees or in combination with climbing trails and towers. When we built Himmelfallet (Skyfall) at H&L Vestfold, we wanted to give our guests the opportunity to feel like a base jumper – in a safe environment! These let your guests feel the air under their wings and get their adrenaline running – and serve as a welcome addition to your park. Read more about our products to find the perfect fit for your park.

Government Certificate of Approval

All H&L adventure park installations and products are built in compliance with both national and international regulations.

Building a playground

If you want to create a safe and fun environment for your youngest kids, then a H&L playground is an excellent choice. All the elements and installations are adapted to the terrain and the playgrounds surroundings. You don’t need a lot of trees either – we can install poles to build your playground. All playground elements delivered by H&L are built in accordance to NS-EN 15567- 1:2015 regulations. For playgrounds where the climbing elements are operated without safety gear, the elements are installed in accordance with NS-EN 1176 and NS-EN 1177 as appropriate.
