Practical Info

Are you planning your trip to Hoyt & Lavt Climbing Park and have some questions? Then here you’ll find some useful information before your arrival.

Purchase tickets

You can easily purchase tickets online before arrival. Please buy your tickets prior to midnight the day before your arrival. When you arrive at the park just bring your receipt containing a QR-code. Buy tickets here.

Height Requirements

Some of our courses have height requirements and we follow the same color coding as most ski resorts. The easiest courses are marked with orange, while the most challenging ones are black. In between you’ll find light green, dark green, blue and red.

The height requirements for the different courses are as follows:

Orange: above 80 cm. Green/dark green: above 110 cm. Red/Blue: above 140 cm.

Children under the age of 6 must be accompanied by a supervising adult in green courses. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a supervising adult in blue and red courses. We recommend at least 1 adult per 4 kids. Kids without company from adult will not be permitet access to the "high" courses

Safety rules

Activities in the climbing park are not permitted for:

  • persons under the influence of drugs or alcohol
  • pregnant
  • persons heavier than 120kg

Activities in the climbing park are not recommended for:

  • persons with back- or neck injuries
  • Persons with heart or lung problems or other physical challenges.

Waiver Form

If you are visiting the park and planning on venturing on to the different courses or activities, you must complete our waiver form. We strongly recommend that you do this online prior to your visit, as this will save you time when you arrive, but you can do it at our park as well.

If you submit your Waiver Form online it’s valid for the entire season. When arriving with a large group one person may fill out a waiver valid for the entire group. Submit the waiver form here.

Weather & Clothes

We recommend that you wear sports/fitness clothing or light hiking gear when you are going climbing in our park. As you will be staying active you might want to wear several layers, so you can take some off as your temperature rises. We recommend you bring a small backpack with a light change of clothes. Running or hiking shoes with a solid sole are preferred. In case of rain, we recommend you bring some light waterproof clothing with you. Please note that there can be resin in the trees. We do not recommend you wear clothing with any strings or cords on to our climbing course.

Food & Beverage

Our café, Stallen, is open during the park's regular opening hours. You can choose between hot and cold meals to a reasonable price. In addition you can buy ice cream, beverages and a selection of light snacks. If you bring food yourself, you can enjoy it outside at our tables. Due to fire hazards it's not allowed to make fires or use barbecues during opening hours.

Safety & Training

Safety is one of our main concerns at Høyt & Lavt Climbing Park. The park is annually inspected by the Norwegian Railway Authority. We also frequently perform internal controls of the operation, and have several internal routines in place, so that you can feel safe at the park.

If you are going to partake in any activities or use our climbing courses, you must go through our mandatory safety course. You may experience some waiting time on busy days. Please listen to your instructor to make the wait as short as possible for yourself and others.

Please note that the mandatory course must be completed at least once per season

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Here you can find the answers to some of our most frequently asked questions. If you can’t find the answer to your question here, feel free to contact us at bergen@hoytlavt.no or at +47 55 10 20 00

- What are your opening hours?

Our opening hours vary during the season. You can find our updated opening hours here.

- Can I bring my kids to the park?

Absolutely! But please note that children under the age of 6 must be accompanied by a supervising adult in the Green courses. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult in the Blue and Red courses. We recommend a minimum of 1 adult per 4 children.

These restrictions do not apply to Småtroll and Knatten where you can assist your children from the ground level if the child is comfortable with that. Unfortunately, we cannot let children access the “high” courses of our park without adult supervision.

- What is the Waiver Form?

Anyone who will be taking part in our activities or using our climbing course must fill out our waiver form, where you agree to behave according to our safety policies. Persons under the age of 18 must have an adult supervisor sign the form for them.

You can either sign the form online here or upon arrival. We are unable to let guests who don’t sign the waiver access the climbing courses and activities.

- - What kind of training will I receive?

If you are going to partake in any activities or using our climbing courses, you must go through our mandatory safety course. You may experience some waiting time on busy days. Please note that the mandatory course must be completed at least once per season.

- Does the park have unlimited capacity?

Unfortunately, no. We can only maintain a set number of guests on our climbing courses. There is a limited number of harnesses available, and when these are in use no more guests are allowed onto the courses.

If there are no harnesses available, you must wait.

- Do you have parking?

There are plenty of parking spots available right by the park, just follow the signs when you arrive. Parking is free of charge.

- What kind of payments do you accept?

We accept most debit and credit cards, as well as cash payments. Additionally, we can send invoices to groups. This must be arranged prior to your group’s arrival.

- Can I buy food at your park?

Yes you can! Our café is open during the park’s opening hours, and you can buy both hot and cold meals here. We aim to serve healthy, nutritious and local food at our café but you can also buy soft drinks and ice cream.

- Do I have to buy a ticket if I’m not climbing?

No. You don’t have to buy a ticket if you won’t be going on to the courses. The area around our park is a superb hiking area, with many marked paths for you to enjoy the wonderful nature.

- Can I bring my dog?

Certainly! Just make sure you bring a bag for their waste. Dogs must always be kept on a leash.

- I have a disability; can I still enjoy the park?

We can cater to persons with various disabilities, and will happily tailor activities to suit your needs. Please remember to call us prior to your arrival and let us know.

If you have any questions please contact us: bergen@hoytlavt.no or +47 55 10 20 00.

- What happens in case of bad weather?

Our park stays open during the season. However, if there are thunderstorms and/or heavy winds the park may have to close until the weather calms down.

If the park has to close due to unforeseen conditions, we are unable to reimburse your ticket fee.

- How can I contact you?

If you need to contact us please send us an email at bergen@hoytlavt.no, and we will get back to you within 2 days. You can also call us at +47 55 10 20 00 but please note that our phone is quite busy during the season.
